[xj-s] Marelli question

my 90 xjs has marelli ignition. does it have a vacuum advance?? I
see two vacuum lines going to the distributor, but I don’t an
advance diaphragm

Ron, the two pipes to the distributor are just there to vent
it, one goes to a small filter hidden on the LHS the other
goes to the intake.

Advance is all electronic on the '90–

Ron,

No, your Marelli ignition equipped 1990 XJ-S does not have a

vacuum advance. The advance is done electronically by the ECU. The two
vacuum lines provide venting/cooling of the distributor cap. Once
vacuum line goes to a small filter located on the left side of the
engine bay beneath the cross brace bolt and the other goes to a vacuum
supply line I believe on the right side (A Bank) intake manifold.

no you don,y have a vacum advance,one line is I vent for the
distributor it has a small filter on the end of it like a inline
fuel filter on the end of it that normally ends on the inner fender
near the fuses and relays or it could be on the otherside fender
well.The second hose connects to the ninty degree elbow that comes
out of the large hose that goes to the aav auxillary airvale if
I,m not mistaken.Only the lucas ignition cars early 88 back have
the vacum advances,and they have totolly different distributor caps
as well a–
