[xj-s] New-Look Jaguar?

Amidst the news/rumors that Ford is intending to say Ta-ta to Jaguar
(and Rover) it may be interesting to contemplate what may soon become
Tata’s biggest seller. It seems the bonnet is a bit short compared to
that of the XJ-S, as is the quality and style

George there has been some talk about this on the X300 forum. Some
hate the thought of Tata but I disagree with that notion. The
choices were an investment group or a car company. The former is
really only interested in short term profits, Tata has huge
resources as they already make steel panels for alot of cars
(including Jaguar). They have alot of money and can be more long
sighted thus allowing Ian Cullum and his boys to do their work
without bean counters constantly on their backs.
Another interesting thought is that Tata and Fiat are major
partners and I read Tata is mostly interested in Land Rover where
Fiat has interest in Jaguar. Remember this the S3 XJ6 was an
Italian design and is still arguably the the best looking
sedan/saloons ever made. Then think that Fiat owns Alfa, Maserati,
and Ferrari. Now there is reason for hope!–

After spending some time touring Tata’s web site
(http://www.tata.com/tata_motors/index.htm), I am more
concerned that Jaguar/Rover would be swallowed up like
berries in a fruit basket. Tata’s products cover the entire
industrial spectrum, from pig iron to digital recording
devices. It is a huge operation and very diversified.–

I’m more concerned that if Tata can successfully produce a car for $3,000,
then we better start hiding caches of gasoline for our Jaguars all over the
place because the supply won’t last very long!
