[xj-s] New wheels

I am interested in updating the look of my '91 XJ-S12 convertible by
getting new wheels. The stock dull aluminum cross-hatched wheels are no
longer attractive to me. I would like to get bright chrome or gold
chrome wheels. I was wondering if any readers have ever purchased gold
chrome wheels? I have seen them on other cars but cannot find them in
catalogs or stores. Also, if anyone has purchased chrome wheels, I would
like to know where, what manufacturer and approximately how much they
cost. I know the buggers can be pricey.

Thanks in advance.
Mike

Hi all,

I’m thinking of puting aftermarket wheels on my XJS and was
wondering if there is a list anywhere of which wheels will
fit - dimensions, offsets etc

I like the look of the XK8 wheels and there seem to be a lot
of OEM Jag wheels for sale on Ebay and various Jag websites.

Any ideas or recomendations as to where to start - I’d like
18’’ wheels all arround if clearance isn’t an issue -

Will stock S sype or X type wheels bolt on to my XJS without
any problems ?

James,

The X & S Type wheels will NOT fit your XJS!! They are on a Ford bolt
pattern whereas your XJS IS a JAGUAR!!

The wheels from any Jaguar XJ up through the '98 will mount directly on
your car.

Hope this helps.

I’m in the process of finalizing an order with this site.
According to the webpage, no adapters, spacers, or mods
required. They look awesome. Anything on these wheels?

By the way, I’m not in any way connected to DrivenMan
whatsoever. I simply discovered the webpage from one of the
links here or at the JCNA (Jaguar Clubs of North America)
forums. Their customer service seem excellent as they
responded to my email enquiry almost immediately. If these
wheels are as advertised, these are probably the only
aftermarket wheels that look awesome to replaceb the factory
dull looking lattice wheels.–

They bear some resemblance to Buggatti wheels, but also look like
those steel wheels you used to see on pickups a few years back. I
saw a car with wheels like these yesterday when in NJ and noticed
the wheels didn’t hide the dirty calipers and rotors behind them.

From a distance they don’t look bad though.

Looks like the webpage I posted has been replaced by another
unrelated commerce, possibly forgot to renew the DrivenMan
domain registration. Too bad. Anyway here’s a shot before the
website was hijacked showing the 17’ wheels on a 90XJS

Hi, Just wanted to tell you that I have just recently
purchased a set of the 17’’ alloy wheels from
thedrivenman.com. Let me tell you, they are even better
looking ‘‘in person’’ than in the photos! As previously
mentioned, the wheels are specially cast with the correct
offset for the Jag, in this case a 1990 XJ-S convertible.
The folks at thedrivenman.com are great to deal with and
really know their stuff about our great cars. I’ll try
to post a photo of my new wheels in the next few days.

Brad, thanks for the feedback. I got my estimate from the
DrivenMan guys for 5 wheels and I thought they’re cheaper than
many aftermarket wheels out there. I think I will order mine
to complete my project. My cat is currently being lumped with
a brand-new 383 stroker/400HP and should be done in 3 weeks.
The matching tires are 235/50/17 which should be about as wide
as the original 235/60/15 or are they? Also what brand tires
did you use? Thanks again. I look forward to your XJS pics!–
