[xj-s] Newbe with '77 XJ6C Fuel Senders question

Hi,

Have this XJ6C a few months and was wondering about the constant
whine coming from the fuel sender(s)from the rear tanks. Is this
normal? Can it be silenced?

I’d play the radio very loud, but that’s not working! I know,
welcome to ‘‘Jaguar Land.’’

I don’t understand how any fuel sender can make any noise at all. A
fuel pump will but not a sender.–
