Hope it’s ok to mention this, but I’ve just got my XJS back from a
local body shop in Toluca Lake who did a most excellent job of
stripping and repainting the entire car, and subbing out the
(totally messed up) seats for custom leather replacement. I can’t
tell the difference between the new leather and the genuine
Connolly hide, and the sample they gave me is thicker than most
leather I think I’ve ever seen. It’s gorgeous.
I also had a bunch of odds-and-end replacement parts (spoiler, rear
light, etc.) that they fitted for me for free; they threw in an
engine cleaning and even had a play around with refinishing my
split and cracked ski-slope so that it looks at least half-decent
until I replace it, all at no extra charge.
If anyone’s in the Los Angeles area and need a recommendation, I’ll
be happy to oblige. I’ll take some pics shortly and post 'em
somewhere …–
