[xj-s] Radiators

Tried the garden hose through the radiator trick as posted yesterday. I
couldn’t see anything visually, but it really did make a difference, from top
of the N to bottom of the N.

Thanks!!!

Hi Peter,

Differing in what respect? When I had by rad recored last week they tried
to sell
me some kind of “better” core that cost over twice as much, i.e., $672 vs
$335.
As nearly as I could understand what they were trying to say, it had
different
tube spacing, but 3 rows. Or, for $700+ they would give me 4 rows. I got
the standard 4-row.

Don’t know what the difference was supposed to be. The core here in
Australia is listed at $1100.

hello all, I believe my radiator is going bad. I am going to go
thru the t-stats,caps and etc. but I am preparing for the rad to be
the main issue.
anyone here converted to a more conventional radiator? how much
cheaper is it? and what is the pain-in-the-arse factor?

thank you

I just finished converting my 88 XJS to an aluminum single pass
BeCool radiator Part#BCI-62082. I got a great deal on Ebay … I got
dual electric fans and the radiator for $250 shipped! The radiator
alone is about $650.

I installed a trans cooler, removed the manual fan/shroud,
converted to electric fans, then used some modified plubing parts
from Lowes and flex hose from Advanced Auto parts to connect both
motor outlets to the top radiator inlet. It’s working great and
runs cool even in traffic.–

we have the identical setup then. I even used all aluminium
pipework which should help keep it even cooler. No rubber at
all!! what is going on with mine I am at a loss. I am so
frustrated that the car is just in the garage with a cover
on it. Another summer wasted.–
