I have a 89 XJS, and the battery has gone down a few times in past
years. There is a code required to make the radio play, and it has
to be input after a power disruption. The code has worked fine the
last couple of times I have needed to use it, but this time it
will not reset. When I put in the code it beeps on the last
number. I have tried it several times, let it sit, for an hour,
overnight, etc. but no luck. Have any of you had this problem, and
if so please tell me how it was resolved. Thanks…JTC–

I had exactly the same problem on my 1990. A friend and Jaguar
technician told me to let it set overnight with the ignition on
then try it in the morning. Note: you have to leave the ignition
ON. I was afraid I’d run the battery down and defeat the purpose of
the whole procedure so I hooked up a trickle charger to keep the
battery freash. The first time I entered the code, it worked.
