thanks to all who replied here and on e-mail about theoverheating
and leaky rad caps
amazingly I found some o rings in my bits box that fitted the new
rad cap - tried them and hey presto - no more leaking - just ran
the car up to nice in the traffic [ its about 80 here today but not
much sun] - the scary needle sat just under or on the N - never at
the top - thanks again guys - its really good to know you are here
- I dont think its the head gasket - thank gawd
btw - I found out side my garage one of those plastic spines you
can use to hold papers togther to form a brochure - cut it to
length and its perfect for slipping over the thinner part of the
bonnet struts and holds it up perfectly [ until I get some new
ones] - when not in use it can live tucked into in the tunnel that
the hose going to the expansion tank goes through and is always
handy there
and while looking at the rad cap I noticed a disconnected wire near
the ac compressor - I reconnected it and the ac at least doesnt
pour out hot air like it was doing - its now coolish if not cold -
where is the sight glass btw - I cant see one on my car
finally I saw in my research someone looking for a product that
lets you slip hoses onto pipewrk more easily - well washing up
liquid [ Joy, Fairy ] has always worked for me
Regards to all
