[xj-s] Rust Preventative

Has anybody out there used POR 15, for stopping or preventing rust
under their cars? Does it work as advertised? They say it’s
ultraviolet sensitive and needs to be covered by paint, I was
thinking about using Eastwoods chassis black, would that be
appropriate on a '95 XJS?

Lee.

I have used POR-15 for years, on everything from Harley frames

to Lincolns and lawn furniture. Yes it does work. But
preperation is the key, just as they recommend. Clean with marine
clean and them metal prep and then dry, I use an air hose. You
have to use gloves when painting with it, if you get any on your
skin it will take weeks if not months to come off. Expensive but
very tough paint.

I have just done the inside and underneath of my Jag.

The POR-15 Chassis Black is not UV sensitive, but the Silver is.
The silver has a filler material in the paint to smooth out uneven
surfaces. Do not cover the silver with any other paint other than
POR-15. Check the POR-15 web site. You can order POR-15 from
Eastwoods, I have used Eastwoods version and will stick to POR-
15
