All,
My trunk lock failed. The post comming out of the back of the lever
mechanism is worn to the point where it will no longer rotate the latching
mechanism enough to open the trunk. This would be very bad news except that
I have the trunk open now. Anyway I need to replace the latch for a mere
$143.03 from my friendly dealership.
Has anyone who has perfomed this figured out how to swap the tumbler
assembly, so that you can keep the same key? I don’t consider this to be
extremely important except it would be nice not to have to carry around
another key. I notice a hole in the barrel of the latch that looks
deliciously like it may be the trick but I haven’t been able to make it
release the tumbler.
