hi I have a 1983 xjs v12 and its been siting in storage for six
years I just started it up and its seems like its missing / the
left bank is smokind real bad and the right seems is
normal ‘‘help’’ .also when I tried to drive it it would not engage
like it was sliping . all the fluids are a ok from what I can see
please help I would greatly apreceat it–

It sure sounds like, somehow, you have a left bank ignition
failure. It’s odd that a whole bank of plugs would foul, but you
could have gotten rodents eating an ignition wire to one coil or
something like that. While trying to pinpoint a bad coil, I was
getting white smoke out of that bank. The cat was cold, but
something caused it to smoke.
That would also make it feel like the tranny wouldn’t ‘‘engage.’’
The engine will run fine on one bank (except for the fire), but it
will have all the power of a small go-cart.–

just an update ::: - went and talked to a british auto mechanic he
said to try and see what the fuel preshure regulator was doing on
that bank . I didnt have a vacume tester or fuel preshure gauge but
i did check the vacume lines and almost presto problim found the
line was way loose so I took some electricle tape and wraped it
around the niple and slid the vac hose back on it . jump started
her back up and volla not so mutch smoke .also checked the fuel in
the tank and wooooah it smells like alchol its also at least one
year old minimim so I plan to drain that and put new gas in there .
also when I jumped the car as I took the jumper cables of the
engine started to miss so I put the cables back on and it was ok
so in all I need to get new gas and a new battery and then
it ‘‘might’’ be ok but dont quote me on that till I have tryed
it :0) if any one has any more sugestions please let me know–
