[xj-s] Where is the convertible top pump? I can't find it

Hello, I have a 1988 Jaguar V12 XJS convertible. The convertible
top has trouble going down and will not rise by itself. I hope that
the convertible top pump just needs fluid, but I afraid it might be
dead. The bigger problem is that I can’t find the convertible top
Please help.

I think you left out the word “pump” in your original message.

I have a 93 which may be different, no rear seats, just a stowage
compartment in the rear.
If this is the same as yours, open stowage lid, and on the RH side, should
be a trim panel secured by two plastic fasteners. Remove fasteners, remove
the trim, and you should see the pump

Hope that helps

I can tell you where it is, it is the trunck, the driver side
behind the scuttle close to the front. Their is a valve you can
open on the line and then be able to open and close the convertible
top manualey. If you want to work on the pump, lines or cylinder,
you need to remove the rear surround, under the convertible top.
Your car is a Hess and Eisenhart model. If you need futher
assistance, let me know. Ben–
