[xj-s] Why would you by an XJ-S

I have nothing important to say on this post except what
ever made me think that I should buy an XJ-S. So then I
thoought was it a V-12 thing?
I should probably drive a Ford Mustang and call it a day?
I read these posts every day and there seems to be a lot
of problems witness cars. Not sure where I’m going with
this but maybe need some reassurance from my XJ-S posters
as to why I should stay with the program. I think the car
still looks great but sometimes the agony of keeping it on
the road is not always a wise investment.
Still like the look and the drive of the car but when does
the expense in time cash and everything else out weight
the benefit? Just asking?–

Maintenance and repair are manageable if you fix problems
when they occur. Ignored trouble gets very expensive very
fast. Buy the BEST car you can afford. An XJS bought ‘‘with
needs’’ quickly becomes a hole in your driveway that you
throw your money into. Become an educated consumer! Acquire
as much technical data as you can and USE IT. This
knowledge will become indispensable when you shop for
service. Don’t let an XJS intimidate you and don’t be
afraid to do your own work. I’ve owned an XJS steadily for
the past fifteen years. My first car was an '83 V-12 and my
current XJS is a '95 4.0 convertible. Any XJS will make a
reliable and durable daily driver and grocery getter. BTW,
no car is an investment.–

I was a lowly enlisted man 1995 when I took out a high risk
loan and 2,000 on a credit card to buy an 87 which has a
salvage title and knew NOTHING more of it’s history except
there was a zamfir tape jammed in the cassette player.

I still have the car and have spent countless hours and
many dollars on my baby, and still enjoy it.–

I can only 2nd what others have mentioned. IF you have
mechanical abilities either learned or to be learned, this
car can he a heart throb for the individual that can
appreciate it. It is a labor of love so to speak to keep
these cats alive and happy but as mentioned, catch up to
the past neglect (as with any car) and move forward to nip
anything in the bud that arises. These cars are capable of
performing to Swiss standards. I know because I had one
that was badly neglected and nursed it back to life. It
will reward you many times once you get there. At that
point, you might consider them having more than 9 lives.–
