[xj-s] Windshield wiper motor assembly from a 1990 to my 1987

My Lucas wiper motor bit the dust before I bought the car. I
disassembled it and found the normal magnets loose, rusted inside,
brushes worn completely out and no protective cover left. I found
and installed an assembly from a 1990 XJS and it works fine on slow
and fast , but not the parking and intermittent function. I
couldn’t find any information on this swap in the archives
specifically. I would like to know if anyone else has done this
and if your results were the same or should my intermittent and
parking functions be working with the newer unit? I like that it
has the bar mechanism instead of the cables.
I noticed that it had wiring going to the washer jets…I haven’t
looked closely to see what that is for…just put it there and
plugged it in…any ideas?–

There was a Jaguar TSB to address this issue. I can email it
to you if you want. I involves a new relay and a wiring
modification to get it to work as originally designed.–

Great information Greg and thanks for sending it. Now all I need
is an intermittant wiper relay DAC6053 from a car with the
Electrolux system. Looks like I have to kill one wire and install
that relay and it should work fine.–
