[xj] s57 electrical guide/supplement

I’d like to get a copy of the ‘‘s57 electrical guide/supplement’’
which is mentioned many time on the forums. Is it still available
from ‘‘Jaguar Services’’. Does anybody have an email address for
them ? I’m in Melbourne, Australia and the time difference makes it
difficult for me to phone during business hours.

Is there any other source …in Australia ?

Thanks

Not sure about an email address, but here’s their snail mail address:

Jaguar Services
16820 South Lathrop
Harvey, Illinois 60426 USA

The Jaguar/JDHT service manual CDs include these better wiring diagrams as
far as I know (my XJS and X300 CDs do, at least)

Bear in mind that the Ser III S57 covers USA market cars. Not a big
deal…90% is gonna be the same. But, still, there are some differences.

In reply to a message from Doug Dwyer sent Sat 30 Dec 2006:

Thanks for your reply Doug. I have the SIII Service Manual (Hard
green plastic cover) which contains an adequate electrical
schematic, but what I’m looking for is more details of where the
components are actually located on the vehicles and, and the ‘‘s57’’
seems to do that. Does the CD ROM also give this info? Yes, I
understand ‘‘s57’’ only refers to US cars.

BTW…the only phone number for Jag Services that still ‘‘works’’ is
800 842 0912. The other numbers are either (1) dead or (2)
answered by a person for whom English was definitely not their
first language …
Thanks again.–

Peter and Doug -

Jaguar Services has moved from Harvey to nearby Lansing. Here’s their
address:

 17959 Chappel Avenue
 Lansing, Illinois 60438 USA

Phones listed on their card are:

 800-842-0912
 708-474-4640
 708-474-4669

Greg Fronczak is the owner. He didn’t list an email address. I’d be
happy to call him for you, just let me know. (Btw, no affiliation, but
a satisfied customer.) His diagrams are very clear, include a page for
each system/circuit, including the grounds, and have good drawings of
many components. Sorta dear, around $35 plus shipping, I think.

Cheers -

Would anyone on here know where I can find a s57 electrical guide for a 1984 XJS V12?

Jonbleslie,
Did you look on eBay? That is where I found the hard copies of the ones I have for our Jaguars.

I have read that digital copies on CD and bootleg copies are also available but some of the folks that bought the ones on CD have had problems with them when they updated operating systems or changed computers. It seems that the quality of the bootleg copies varies and some of the are difficult to read or are missing pages as one lister recently discovered.

Paul

Thanks Paul. I have looked on eBay. The one I found is for the chassis only. I need one that shows the EFI – I’m having my '73 2+2 converted to fuel injection, and my parts car is a '84 XJS.

Jon

Jon,
If I were you I would save a search on eBay for “Jaguar S57 Electrical Guide” see what shows up. That is how I got mine many years ago. You could also try sending a request to the Coventry Foundation to see if they have one as was mentioned in their post.

Someone recently posted a link to a website that had some S57 Electrical Guides. Search the archives for “S57 Electrical Guide” and you should be able to find that post and link. I have no idea if that site has the correct S57 for your year but it is worth a try.

The original hard copy S57 Electrical Guides that I have for my Jaguars are copyrighted documents and I have no idea whether or not the websites offering them to download have authority from Jaguar to do so.

Good luck.

Paul

Thanks Paul. I found a pdf for a 1989 – should be good since they had the same engine and Lucas ignition as the '84 model.

Jon

Jon,
We have a 1990 XJ-S (5.3L V12 with Marelli ignition) and a 1990 V12 Vanden Plas so I don’t know much about the other year engines (earlier or later). Seems to me that there were a lot of changes in the V12 engine between 1984 and 1989 but guys familiar with those earlier cars will have to chime in.

Paul

Until you get into the Marelli ignition cars the fundamentals are the same with respect to ignition, fuel injection, and emissions.

But, there are a slew of small changes, especially '87-89. Idle relays, 3 wire oxygen sensors, etc

If anyone is interested I have a file with the S57 diagrams for-
Series III XJ6 4.2
1982-87 XJS V12
1988 XJS V12
1989 XJS V12
And the S58 V12 performance manual

I can send it to an email address

Cheers
