John-You didn’t warn me soon enough-my dinner is now on the
floor.YIKES,what a waste of an XJ6C. The seller says ‘‘restored’’
but I think Gregory just might disagree,at least with a few items.

My Gawd… did you see the wiring in the dash and motor
compartment??? I love the side scoops…

Hell, it looks like a monster sitting where it is! And as a bonus it
comes with a salvage title. Sad waste of a once excellent car!

I believe this car was on ebay last year. At least, I am going to go
with that thought because if there are two of these out there… well,
let’s talk about something else.

Quite the point… what do you guys think: would a car
like that be restorable to original condition?

‘‘Access weight removed’’

That’ll be the missing door panels (geddit?). There are one or two
teensy weensy other pieces I’d lose but hey, one man’s meat is
another man’s poison. As for scary exterior, forget it. That dash
shot beats everything :frowning: !

SCENE: An office somewhere in Sacramento. The phone rings. A man
picks up the receiver.

‘‘Uh huh?’’

''Sir, there’s a bunch of Jaguar enthusiasts here at reception who
want to give you a car to go with the new job.

‘‘OK. I’ll be right down’’

SCENE: Under entrance canopy of the imposing building people are
clustered around a car, prodding and poking and looking into the
windows. They hear heavy footsteps behind them and turn around to
see a woman with a microphone approaching a large man wearing
mirror shades.

‘‘Sir, can I ask you what you think of your new State limo?’’

You know if you could buy that car just for the body. Replace all the
wiring and returning the interior back to original. Throw out the GMC
engine and install a 6.0ltr V-12 drivetrain you would have a car that
looks just a little different but should go like hell.(This was my sons
opinion not mine) but it did start me thinking.

I also like the rear bumper (or bumpers).

hmm, by comparison this one didn’t look too bad at all: #2453632167:)
I was fascinated with the combination: “1969” and “XJ12”. I wasn’t
sure what to make of it, so the seller sent me a pic of the dash: a
proper Ser I dash with chrome bezels. I hope this wasn’t some unique
pre-production testbed or something…I hope it found a good home.–

Too right, Bob!

It would be too nice to find a Coupe like that in South Africa, so I can put
a Broadspeed body-kit on it and a fat V12 with manual transmission. Paint it
like the Broadspeed fat cats and you have a nice car to get the people in
your club talking. (and have some fun chasing BMW’s on the freeway)

Cheers!

Hello Arnoud - and a hearty hello to one and all from frozen Northern Ohio!

I don’t think it is likely that this car is anything special as far
as the XJ12 history goes. Looks to me like it started out in life as
a Series II XJ12, though the “H” registration certainly suggests that
the car was first registered in late '69 or early '70, which would
make it a Series 1. The front end appears to be straight Series II
however, and I think the rest of the body is also a Series II which
leads me to wonder if the car’s registration is honest. In any case I
think the first testbeds for the V12 engine were Mark X bodies…
