[xj] Seies 1 Dash Light Upgrade

I want to thank Kevin Kemper for the excellent article on the use
of the luminescent light strips to upgrade the Series 1 Speedo and
Tach lights.

I just came across his tech article last week. I did the conversion
on my 71 XJ6 today and it’s hard to belive that there can be that
much improvement.

It only takes an hour or two to do it. His article covers the XKE,
but the only thing I found different on the XJ6 was that you don’t
need to remove the dash top, just rotate the gauges out and most of
the work can be done sitting at your workbench.

I bought mine from JabTech out of Oklahoma for $7.95 each. Probably
other tech places have them, also.

His link is jaguartype.wordpress.com/home/dash-instrument-lighting-
upgrade/.

His article even has a before and after picture. Can’t wait to take
mine out in the dark tonight!

Again, Thanks Kevin!–

That’s a common problem. You have to go to the home page

and then navigate to the intended page. In this case you
first choose ‘‘technical’’ (or something close to that IIRC)
and then choose the page about the instrument upgrade.

If you simply copy the page your browser is now on and post
(or try to link directoy to) it, there is no joy. Can’t get
there from here, sorta speak.–

Great - I am glad the write-up was helpful. I am just trying
to ‘‘pay forward’’ some of the great tips I have learned along
the way from the List, whether E-Type or now XJ6! What is
interesting is that on the Wordpress site I created, only one
page of the site is now dedicated to the XJ6, rather than the
E-Type, but that is the page that seems to get the most
comments sent to me. I had no idea how much enthusiasm the
XJ6 generates, when the E-Type is supposed to be the
‘‘glamour’’ car. I am having fun with having one of each now,
since the XJ6 is rapidly becoming my daily driver.–
