[xj] Series III Ujoint lube

Any suggestions how to instal (thread) the zerk grease fitting into
the outboard rear drive shaft Ujoint? It is very restricted access
even with the cover slid up the shaft.–

never did this before but I’ve a few ideas that may help: Make sure
the threads match. You might gain more room if the car is jacked up
and the wheel ass. is hanging down, then rotate the tire to the
best position. Use jackstands. Maybe a 1/4’’ socket and extension
will let you get it in. Maybe some electrical tape will hold the
zerk straight? Get it started by hand before you tighen it with a
ratchet.–

Ralph:

I’ve used a section of rubber tubing to start spark plugs in
difficult areas.

The same technique might just work to get the Zerk started.
