[xj] stumbling associated with temperature

Thank you very much to the several people who replied. I replaced the temp
sensor–crossed over numbers with the Bosch numbers I was given, and got a
Napa part number TS5501 ( box was marked Napa Echlin ) put in the sensor
and the stumbling problem is gone. Thanks to Dr. Andrachuk for the tip
about the air lock, when I removed the old sensor, I got a whoosh of air
pressure, engine temp was mid-range when I changed it, when I unscrewed
sensor. Maybe it was an air lock, maybe it was the sensor, anyway, I’m too
lazy to put the old sensor back in to find out. Thank you. John Van

Good, John. By the way, the coolant system should whoosh (outward) when
opened the first time after a run and even cool down. This says it’s
sealed properly.–
