[xj] sudden loss of idle speed - UPDATE

UPDATE
No vacuum hose on distributer. Apparently the line that was dragging
came from the vacuum advance. Idiot mechanic apparently stuck it on
where ever he found something that looked like a nipple. Not fixed yet
since I need to get under the car to do so and find out where he put the
hose.
Lessons Learned:
Do not let any one with out knowledge of a Jaguar under your car for any
reason no matter how simple you think it is!!!

Doug,

Glad to hear it! Not surprised that there are not many “Jag experienced” mechanics
in Douglas!

Make damned sure that there is a vacuum nipple on the distributor, Doug

  • for some odd reason; some distributors reportedly has no vacuum
    connection…

Be aware that US models have the dist vacuum connected to the throttle
body - sometimes through intermedaite gadgets. On ‘Europeans’ the dist
vacuum is a straight manifold to dist connection…

Lesson well learned…
