The vacuum hose which connects to the top side of the air distribution
block (where you adjust the idle, hope that is the actual name), where does
it go?

I attempting to check all vacuum hoses on the 4.2L, there is one
exiting the rear of the throttle body that disappears under the
engine or intake manifold. What is this connected to, and can it be
accessed in any way?
Larry, it’s easiest to jack up the front, get under and look upward. There
should be a hose from the throttle body, just in front of the throttle plate
that goes to the “carb” spigot on the plastic vacuum regulator that hangs down
there. The regulator has another small spigot marked “dist” which goes to the
distributor. Its main spigot is marked “delay” and simply goes to the main
vacuum source on the manifold.
That supply, of course, should also feed a 1-way valve and another T that goes
to the A/C vacuum port (on firewall) and the reservoir over by the brake
booster (LHD).
The regulator limits vacuum to the dist to 6"Hg when the throttle is closed,
to reduce NOx production from advanced spark, I believe.–
