[xj] Value

I have a 1983 jaguar xj6 in ok condition. The engine runs strong
and the tranny shifts rather smooth. It has 104,500 miles on the
clock and has brand new Firestone tires. The trip timer doesn’t
work along with the front driver side window and horn. The interior
seats were recovered so they look nice, but the headliner is in
needy shape, had the rust spots removed, filled, and touch up
painted. I guess it could use a paint job(it’s not nessacary). I
was wondering what I shoulld ask to sell it for?
Also has anyone expericened the problems listed above and have the
solution?

Thanks, Dave–

The horn is ridiculously simple— it is almost always
the horn relay. This is a little black plastic can on
the passenger side (american car I’m assuming) of the
engine bay, much towards the front, down about a foot.
Should say “Lucas” in white lettering and have a
litte diagram on it.

The drivers window is, again, easy as it is almost
always the switch. Just take one of the little used
switches out of the rear seat window controls and swap
it out with the drivers window switch.

Those little things with not increase the value of the
car, but will make the car more sellable at the price
you are gonna get.

I have a hard time reading… I THINK you said all the
rust spots and whatnot have been patched up and the
paint looks “ok”. Everything else I understood. If
the car is as I imagine it… $3000 would be a nice
price and would satisfy everyone involved. Ask for
$3500 and take $2500 if you see cash.

If its a rust mess all bets are off.
