[xj] Water Pump?

I’ve just noticed I have a small leak from what looks to be
the bottom edge of the water pump, when the engine is
running small droplets of coolant get blown up. I plan on
taking a closer look at it this weekend, is this likely to
be just a seal/gasket failure or would it be time to replace
the pump?

Chances are it’s leaking out of the relief hole, also known as
the “weep hole.” Your pump is now in the process of going south.
Time to replace it.===================================================

Hi there

I’ve currently got the same scenario with my SII xj6L- Make sure that it is
the pump by getting underneatth with a mirror and a light as there are many
hoses around there that can leak small amounts and mimmick a water pump- if
in fact it is the water pump then best to replace with a reconditoned pump
(Here in Australia a new aftermarket is available from Repco for ~ $AUS500 ,
and a fully reconditoned with new gaskets etc for $120- Reconditoned in my
opinon).

Best of luck
