[xj] Wiring path for '71 Series 1 rear window defroster B/W wires

The CD is not ‘‘clear’’ on the path of the harness wires from the
front power connection to the rear window defroster wires. I have
power at the switch, fuse and the next bullet connector. Then the
wire goes somewhere and shows again up under passenger door sill
and then under the rear package tray in the boot. I have no power
in these last two areas so there is no power at the wires in the
windows.

Somewhere between the front and rear there is a connection into the
harness. The B/W wire is not under the drivers side sill at all.
This means it must join in the pillar area or???–

Roger

As best I can remember all the wiring in the S1 is a complete
harness (no bullets) all the way along the sill. When I pull those
out of my parts cars, I can get a full piece all the way from the
connectors at the front to the connector at the rear, near the rear
seatbelt.
I have one that is torn down far enough I can double check it for
you if you need me to.

Did you change out the seatbelt anchors in the B post like we had
talked about? Maybe a wire was accidently cut or torched?

Yes, David, I would love to know for sure about the bullet
connections from the front of the car to the rear on the drivers
side. The whole harness appears to be tape wrapped. The wiring
diagram shows two of them and I have found the one under the rear
package tray for what is known as ‘‘Extension - power lead’’ for the
defroster. Where is the remaining bullet?

Also, where does the harness go? What path does the whole harness
take to get into the drivers rear sill? Through the pillar but how
from the front of the car?

I did not cut or otherwise damage the wires in the pillar. But, I
will confirm by looking in there tonight.–
