[xj40] abs light comes on when braking

any ideas on where to look for fault?- I am presuming maybe a
faulty sensor or cables?

it sounds like your accumulator is worn out. when you first turn on
the ign, how long does it take for the pump to stop? should take
about half a minute or a little more. then when it stopped, turn
off the key and start pumping the brake pedal vigorously, it should
take 38-44 pumps before you could feel that its getting rock hard,
if thats how it is the accumulator is ok, but if you pump it a few
times and the pedal goes hard, you need a new one pajtas–
