Xj40 - ac

Any reason that my 89 XJ40 A/C seems to run “not as cool” when idling?
This seems to be more prevalent after just starting the car and running for
just a few minutes.
Belts? freon? Other?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Mike, this is normal for all cars…every car I have owned does this.
Its due to the compressor turning slower, and less air flow thru the
condensor coil.
Car ac is always a compromise as the input power varies(rpm).
If the compressor was a monster and cooled like crazy at idle,
then they would have to come up with a way to dump all the
pressure when you had the engine turning at 3000-6000 rpm.
The ideal way would be to have a comp. that turns at a steady rpm.
