[xj40] aftermarket spartking coils

The difference in price between a Jaguar sparking coil for the 3.6
XJ40 and a pattern (aftermarket) coil is substantial. Are the
aftermarket coils satisfactory replacements, or must it be genuine
Jaguar?

I appreciate the good advice I have received from members in the
past. Thank you.

I used a pattern coil from a Jaguar specialist at the last service
and it has been fine. Only thing I did not like was the bright
blue colour although cannot actually remember what colour the Jag
version was.

Hi Peter, a mate of mine who also ran an XJ40 (4.0 though), replaced his
dead coil with one of the correct spec manufactured by Intermotor of
Nottingham (model 1120 ?).
This only cost around AU$48 compared to the Bosch variety for which he was
quoted between AU$160 and AU$220. The replacement worked fine.
