[xj40] Front seat backs left to right

Ok. First this is a great site full of info for us new Jag owners,
thank to all that post and keep this site alive. Now, I have a 93
XJ6 and a 94 XJ6 parts car. I have stripped the interiors out of
both to combine and make the 93 as clean looking as possible. My
question is, can I swap the right and left seat backs or are the
frames different? By doing this I would have a perfect drivers seat
with no wear and tear on the outside edge.

Thanks.

You did not leave your name but -----

You raise a very interesting question one that I will await an
answer from someone who has attempted the switch. For many years
I have wondered why auto manufacturers do not make the entire front
seats swappable. It would be a simple thing to do locate all
controls either on a side panel or a central unit on the skirt.

Be well, Doug–

Thanks Doug.

It looks like I could just take the seats apart and swap the upper
halves.

Thanks.

hi there, how electrified are your seats? if fully electric it
should be ok if the frames match. if not electric then your
recliner leaver and lumbar support wheel will be reversed unless
they too can be swapped about…can you not just remove the seat
cover and transfer it to the original frame?–

Thanks Reggy.

The seats are fully electric, and yes I can remove the covers, I
was hoping to find someone that had done this already and might let
me know if there are any gotchas that I should be looking for.

Thanks.–

Dear Sir
if the seats are all electric than as previous reply’s have stated
it ‘‘should’’ not be a problem, however no one has said that if the
seats are fitted with an aditional seat entry button(i think this
is a waste of time)located on the seat base on the outside front
corner drivers base, this then would a handed seat base and
therefore can not be swapped left to right, but since most of the
damage to front drivers seats are on the bolster on the seat back
then this might not be a problem.–
