[xj40] How easy is it to change the distributor rotor?

Hello Everyone,

I had the distributor cap off today. I am planning on changing the
rotor tomorrow but it seems as though the old rotor is glued to the
shaft. Am I imagining things or does it just look that way?–

The rotor is a press fit onto the shaft - no glue required.

It just looks that way. The rotor is the only thing inside
the distributor. Grasp it like you would grab a starter
cord for a lawn mower and pull it straight off. The key tab
that aligns the rotor is directly in line with the contact
arm. You may have to wiggle it a bit.–

When you get the rotor off, check for any burn thru marks between
the rotor and the shaft you pulled it off of…this could explain
any performance problems that you may have had. Brandon–
