You are correct in your understandings. The IPods analog radio wave
connections will enable you to listen to your tunes but, it ain’t gonna
do Jack for the quality of those tunes. If you still have a cassette
player then the cassette adapter will work better in terms of quality.
At the end of the day a head unit with an adapter that plugs directly
into your IPod is going to be the best way to go. I believe that I’ve
had just about every situational hookup for my IPod in the car and,
home.
Don’t get me wrong. I still have and use the analog radio wave
connections in other cars that don’t have any IPod connectors because
it’s portable and, only needs to be plugged into a cigarette to be
operational

Can anyone explain why the output from iPods is so poor in
volume terms? For EVERY one of the gizmos I’ve used I have
to crank th evloume up so loud to get decent volume that I
have to be carfeul when switching to another source that I
don’t make my ears bleed.–

HI,
I bought an adapter which goes into the cassette player that has
alead that plugs into my ipod. Have been using it for over a year
now with no problems.
You can buy them from most consumer electrical shops.

All the best
