[xj40] leaky rack or what?

have noticed a faint noise when I turn steering,also fluid
underneath on rack,but fluid levels up on power steering pump-help
please.–

That’s how mine started. A slight ‘‘whine’’ whilst turning, almost
the same noise as when the steering hits its limit. Fluid looked OK
for a while, then a bit started to leak. Topped off w/ Stop Leak PS
fluid for about a year, then the little drops started turning to
small puddles each day.

You may try to get away w/ the same thing for a while. I replaced
mine when the puddles started to get to the extreme level.
