[xj40] Leaper missing and clear coat question

I have been looking around and I am trying to find out which
leaper and leaper mount style I would have had on my car 1988
vanden plas I only have two holes and it looks as if it was
pried out… is there a good way to message the metal around
the holes back flush with out cracking up my paint to much.
Also My clear coat at bottom of windows on back doors is
cracking and missing is there a way to polish it and paint so
it kinda matches then wax the car? or is it going to be a
major project? not going to be a show car but a daily driver
in the summer.–

I bought a couple of spray cans of Gloss Clear Coat acrylic
lacquer from Automotivetouchup.com to repair the clear coat
on my cars. I used a scraper and 400-grit sandpaper to
prepare the surface, masked off what I didn’t want clear
coat on, and let 'er rip. They also can match the paint
codes for Jaguars if you need the color coat as well.–

Thank you for the insite on how to fix the issue, and I know
the color of my car (silver birch) but the paint looks almost
perfect except the 2 rear doors below the windows where the
clear coat is peeling.

Now to just find out what type of leaper I have. it does not
look like a spring loaded but more just bolted on.–

There are two sizes of leapers, with corresponding bolt
spacing. Measure the distance between the centers of the
two holes and talk to one of the usual suppliers for a
replacement. You may need to use fender washers on the
underside of the bonnet if the holes have suffered damage.–
