[xj40] My 4.0 is vibrating

My 4.0 Daimler is vibrating when driving strait forward at high
speed, around 40mph and above. It almost feels as the unbalansed
wheels but Ihave changed them and the problem remains.

It isent really a problem, but it isent as smooth as our other Jag
(s-type) or even our Audis.

As always when my Jag has a problem Im affraid itwill cost me a
fortune, but this does seem like a expensive fault to me.

Have a nice weekend you al!–

maybe if you describe the vibration in a little more detail someone
can help…do you feel the vibration mostly in the steering wheel
or do you feel it mostly in the seat?..steering wheel vibartions
USUALLY point to a front end issue and seat vibrations usually
indicate a rear end issue…does the vibration stay constant from
40 mph on or does it get worse as speed increases or doese it come
and go as speed increases?..all these may help diagnose your
problem better…–

I feel it in the seat, and it almost feels like it comes from the
back of the car. It comes around 40mph and increses a litle bit as
I drive faster. Is feels like the wheels are unbalanced but I have
changed them to another pair and it dident cure the problem. When I
first bought the car it vibrated a lot, sugesting flatspots on the
tiers (it had been standing for a while) but after a few miles it
got better an I was stuck with this vibration.

At one point it seemed like it only appered in forth gear
(independet of the speed) but now I dont know really.–

Hi all

Another suggestion is that it could be the breaks; then You
would experience that the tires/wheels/hub (I just lost the english
word for the metal part …You know what I mean) gets hot. Stop the
car and put a finger on to sense temperature. Hot=Bad. Also
breaking slightly during ride would change vibration (either
increasing or decreasing).

Cheers–
