My passenger sider power seat decided to blow fuses
recently. I tracked it down to the fore-aft motor circuit
and found a failed switch in the seat switch pack on the
side of the transmission tunnel. There are 8 momentary
switches inside, in pairs for the four options back/forth,
up/down etc.
Seven of them have a nice ‘‘click’’ on the contact, one has no
click, one of the fore-aft switches. Has anyone out there
found a source for replacement switches, or is the only cure
to get a new or ‘‘recycled’’ switch pack?

John,
Those switches appear to be one of the standard
microswitches used quite commonly and should not be too
difficult to source at an electrical supply. I expect a new
replacement will need to have the two 1/4’’ quick connects on
the end of the switch trimmed to fit the board.
Worst case, I’ve got a set from my '91, I can unsolder one
of the switches and get it into to the post for you.–

Hi All
The $3.95 switch arrived today and it works perfectly! Just
checked the invoice and it was actually $3.25!
Bonus is I found $4.15 in coins while excavating the centre
console!! Made a profit!!!
The switch I bought is dimensionally identical to the
original except for the shape of the two lugs to be soldered
onto the board which required a little filing down to fit.
Also the lug on the side is slightly shorter but still
allows easy connection of the wire. JAYCAR (Australia) part
number is SM1040
The switch is rated as 250 V AC and 20 amps. It turns out
that after removing the original it too is rated at 250 V AC
and 20 A, printed on the ‘‘hidden’’ side when installed.
Original is a Honeywell (UK) part. Numbers printed on the
‘‘hidden’’ side are:
9007
10(2,5)A250V~
V91214CBX045
I trust this will be of use to anyone out there with
inoperative power seats.

I managed to find a local supplier (Jaycar Australia) of the
microswitches at $3.95 - much cheaper than a recycled
switch-pack for $95!!!
Now - where did I put that soldering iron?

John,
Very good! I’d thought you’d have to trim those two
terminals but for the price, well worth the effort.–
