Well, after getting Layla up on the rack this a.m. the tech
immediately noticed that my high pressure hose had blown out on the
underside … he reported it looked like it had actually
exploded … I’ve heard that high heat (its near the exhaust
manifold) over time will commonly do that to the h.p. hose …
One bit of info to pass along on this subject: in looking for
replacement high pressure p.s. hoses online, I found out that there
is sold out there an aftermarket fitment which is somewhat cheaper
than the OEM/factory unit (no brand names mentioned here) …
however, this version does NOT have the insulation wrapping on it
(looks like aluminum foil, but I believe it is asbestos) … It’s
definitely worth it to pay the few extra $$s and get the OEM
version, IMHO, for longivity and reliability’s sake … It appears
the PO had put the aftermarket version on Layla at some time, and
hence probably why it failed suddenly and prematurely …–
