[xj40] Rear turn indicators not working when brake applied?

First of all I would like to thank Dianne and John for their
propmt response regarding my earlier query on door panels.

(87.5 XJ40 only 87,000/kms)This problem is regarding the turn
signals in the rear. The problem occurs when the turn signal
(right or left) is activated and the brakes are applied the turn
signals in the rear do not wotk. Rather the brakes lights are
showing only.

Any help would be much appreciated?

Best regards,

That’s bizarre. Such behavior is usually the result of a bad ground, but
the grounds to the two rear BFM’s appear to be separate on my schematics.
Very possibly the wiring is different on your MY though. Nevertheless, I’d
look there first.

Check for no voltage to ground at pin 8 of the 15-way black connector on
the LH BFM and the RH BFM when the turn signal is flashing and the brakes
applied.

You could also check the ground side of the turn signal bulbs to make sure
they stay at ground.
