[xj40] refinishing the Wood around the gear box

Hello,
I have read some good advice regarding how to strip the poly off
the faded wood around the gear box. Would anyone care to chime in
with their advice or admonitions.

Thanks to all for helping me make this car a joy to drive again.–

Thanks for the information !
Also, I found this link for a company

Unfortunately they are based in the US.
I wonder if anyone in the UK does something similar–
