[xj40] Service heaven

I’ve posted this on the other forums I participate in and wanted
to share it here. I am using speed bleeders and Fram sure drain
system (no affil.)on our vehicles. These products make changing oil
and bleeding brakes much easier. You can find them at
www.speedbleedr.com and google Fram sure drain system.

Stephen,

Seems to be a small problem (or two) with your suggestion of
using the Fram sure drain system on an XJ40 engine.

The AJ6 sump / oil drain plug has an M20 x 2.5mm thread. I
don’t see any of the adaptors offered by Fram in that size.

The second possible problem may be the horizontal aspect of
the AJ6 sump plug and the close proximity of the bell
housing which restricts ‘straight-on’ access to the drain
hole. A 90 adaptor may be necessary.

Fumoto offer a more elaborate device -

but they only fit Jaguar V8 and V6 engines, not the AJ6.–

Brian,
I’ve posted that site to my favorites. You are probably correct. I
actually haven’t changed the oil in our 92 VDP Majestic yet. We
have only owned it for about six monthes and it hasn’t gotten much
mileage and the oil had just been chaged right before we bought it.
