[xj40] SLS pipe flare nut thread size

In reply to a message from Polcon sent Fri 20 Mar 2009:

Nat,

I’ll have an (educated?) guess.

I still have the bleed screw (CAC 8293) which was in the
‘Tee’ piece over the rear axle where the SLS hydraulic lines
split to go to the individual L & R SLS shocks.
That screw is substituted in to the port in the Girling
valve block to blank it off when you remove the hydraulic
line which runs from that valve block under the floor pan to
the ‘Tee’ piece at the rear of the car when you remove the
SLS to convert to standard rear suspension.

It follows that the thread of that bleed screw is the same
as the thread on the flare nuts which normally attach the
hydraulic lines to the Girling valve block, the ‘Tee’ piece
and I presume, the top of the SLS shocks.

I measure the thread of the bleed screw as M12 x 1.0mm - i.e
a special ‘Metric Fine’ thread, not the standard M12 thread
on which the pitch is 1.75mm.

It has to be a ‘bastard size’ because none of the nuts in my
spares box of similar size, metric or Imperial, will screw
on to that thread (and I have tried a lot!).

No guarantees of course! :-)–

Does anyone know what the thread size is for the SLS pipework flare
nuts is?
