I found a new set of front calipers for the later XJS cars on Ebay…

Later? Did these calipers change over the life of the XJ-S? I thought they
were 4-pot Girling units from start to finish. Did the ABS models use different
calipers?

In 1993.5, Jaguar moved the rear brakes from inboard to outboard. The calipers changed from a 2 piston unit to a single piston sliding caliper design. Also, the ones on my car are marked ATE which is made in Germany (I believe). Since the rears were revised, it seemed possible that the fronts were also. The front calipers are, indeed, a 4 piston design but I did not notice any manufacturer’s markings on them. It is possible that the new calipers that I installed on my car would work for all years. Sorry for the confusion, just wanted to keep from misleading anyone else that was planning brake work.
