XK applications

I have been told that the XK engine is used in British tanks. Can the
Brits on the list confirm?

i have difficulty with this one.

the m1-abrams tank is driven by a turbine. i'll wager the horsepower
 in the 1000 range.

the xk is a bit on the light side i think.

now this may be tongue in cheek, but then again, when someone told me
that the word gullible was not in the dictionary, i looked it up...

I think the tank I was referring to is quite a bit older than the M1-Abrams.

Hi David.

It was never used in a ‘Tank’ per se, but was often used in fighting
vehicles. The Saracen armoured car, I think, and some others.
Daimler used to make the standard British ambulance once.

The Chieftain tank has various power plants I believe, typically Rolls
Royce 0.75MW turbo intercooler diesels, and some more ominous ‘doomsday’
engines which allegedly are air cooled two strokes, about 20 litres, which
run in nuclear winters on ANYTHING. But I speak from hearsay, not from
direct knowlege.
