As a matter of interest, this is/was a 1957 XK150S OTS that did not sell at
$16,825 as it did not meet the sellers reserve. An interesting collection
of parts, but without the original motor. There were 33 bids. I wonder
what he expected to get?
So what is he selling, the XK150 or the XK120 in the picture?

Brian,
Bit of a mystery this one. Side on shot of body is 120 or 140. Rear shot of
chassis is 150S (2 fuel pumps). Rear clip is 150. Grill, bumper bars, side
light pods etc 120. I give up, just what is for sale?

I think I can help identify the mystery car under discussion here.
It is in fact a very rare and secret experimental model that was
actually badged as the ‘‘KX-1250’’.
My gut feeling is that this short-lived model was probably intended
a transitional model, the design purpose of which was merely to
help in economically dispersing the excess parts bin stock left
over from the equally secret but also failed, experimental ‘‘KX
120/20’’ which was intended to be a doubled-ended competition car,
specifically built for the East African rallies of the time.
My research also shows that the likely design concept here was that
if the unfortunate E/A Rally crew (of 4) were to became stuck in
sand, rather than struggle with the heavy pressed steel sand mats
of the day, the cunning crew merely had to flip the car’s folding
seats to face the opposite direction (inspired by the tram cars of
the day) and simply drive out of the sand in the opposite
direction to that they had entered from, thus saving precious
minutes on the rough stages of the Rally.
I suspect that the model was a complete failure since mechanical
problems plagued the project from the very start.
Rumour had it that there was no room in the car for 2 gearboxes and
an added complication was that both engines rotated in opposite
directions.
Hope this nonsense helps,

I think you need a toilet plunger although your narrative is most
amusing.

Hi Guys
good job he never sold the car as the front bumper looked some what
suspect for a 150 as the blade shown was straight with no dip for the
radiator grill.
I am sure the 150 experts can find many more funy things but it
keeps us happy

The plot thickens…
how does the XKE hood fit on the rest of the car?
is the ‘‘Thor’’ hammer wrapped up for evidence in an investigation?
I note that this car also had the rare option of having 5
Tecalemit grease guns included in the tool kit which also appears
to have both left and right jack handles…
Very interesting. (Wish I had the tools…)

If you don’t know what a plunger is you probably really need one. As far
as tranny covers go, I gave Bruce Cunningham a Moss box from my E Type
which he fitted to his XK120 and refitted his old cover so there is one
out there as well as some gears you might use. Give him a shout.
