[xk] Hardtops

Dear Les,
re the hardtops, mine was custom made here in Sydney from a FHC as a mould.
Looks like a FHC witha vinyl roof. The only 150 DHC I have ever heard of
with such a top, anywhere in the world. Has a FHC rear window and side
windows too. 120s were the models that had a few hardtops made for them.
Not factory options. See article Jaguar Enthusiast (UK club magazine) Aug
02 p 76. Brands included: Pycraft, and Fox & Nicholl.
Note the Guy Broad hardtop advertised from 2001-2.

I would love some more history of your car, and all the other XKs in Canada
that you know of. I am a member of the XK Register in Canada, long
distance!

Regards
John Elmgreen

Hey Ernie, can I borrow your car? ;^)

Hi John I puchased my 120 from an airline pilot by the name of J H
Fotheringham in 1968. I checked th numbers with David Henry from Jaguar on
Nov 6 1968, The numbers I submitted to him [and the numbers I still have]
were correct for that car. It was shipped to a Mr M.J.Duff in newfoundland
Canada Sept 1st 1952. It was Pastel blue with red interior. It was probably
registered in Newfoundland at that time. Someone from Ontario [maybe
Fotheringham ] purchased it and had to transfer ownership to Ontario…hence
1954 on present ownership. The hard top for your info is fibreglass with
dark blue vinyl exterior. It is fully lined with white and red piping to
match interior, and has a dome light. Special sidescreens are required [ I
have sets for both soft and hard top ] There are triangular side windows and
a large {2ft +] semi eliptical rear window. [all plexiglass] I would have
sent this off list but I do not have an E-Mail address for you. We can
continue this interchange offlist…@Les_McDonald1…Regards Les----- Original Message -----

Dear Les, I do not think I have been in touch with the Ontario club. All
information is always gratefully received, and don’t forget the chassis or
at least the engine no.
By the way, Duff was the dealer for Newfoundland, not a private owner.
