[xk] Head gasket

Dear XK-fellows

Some weeks ago I wrote about a waterleakage (through the overflow-pipe). I
seems like a worn top-gasket.
The gasket was not the old asbetsos/copper gasket, but a “simple” pressed
steel (?) gasket. The new one I got from my dealer is similar to the old
one.
Can anybody tell me if there is other and may be better types of gaskets?
And: it is recommended to use gasket sealant - a friend of mine mentioned
“3M Spray 90”.
Thank you
Martin

A friend of mine (not on the net) is restoring a 120. The engine block
(3,4) is original, but the top is from a 3.8 (Mk2). The job was done
properly , he told, but after a while the comp. blew into the
cooling-system.
May be a wrong gasket is the reason? He couldn’t remember what type of
gasket he used.
What type of gasket is recommended - a 3.4 or 3.8 gasket?
Any comments appreciated.
Thank you in advance
Regards,
Martin.

PS: Some times ago I wrote about my bad brakes. After I filled up the
system with new brake fluid - no problem at all. My car runs great. (2000
miles this spring)

I wonder if this has anything to do with my leaking problem?

Is the increase in CCs from 3.4 to 3.8 from stroke or bore? How can you
seal a 3.8 chamber on a 3.4 hole? Just wondering JW

The gasket installs dry.
