[xk] Last Night

Did anyone see the movie last night (teen flick) on USA, I
think. I was flipping through the channels in a hotel room and caught the
very end of a strange movie about a brother/sister/girlfriend triangle
where the guy dies in the end (I think the sister has him killed). I had
flipped by a couple times ignoring it until I watched the final scene where
the girlfriend drives off in the dead guy’s XK140 OTS (black with biscuit
interior). Car was gorgeous and I was happy to see the color scheme I have
adopted for 677010. Anyone know the name of the flick? It looked like
earlier in the movie the guy and girlfriend must have spent a lot of time
driving around in the car (several flashback scenes at the end indicated
such). Anyone know where they got the car?

     Thanks

Tom L;
Looking at last nights TV listings, USA showed “Cruel Intentions”
('99) with Sarah Michelle Gellar. The blurb about the show only says:
“Two manipulative adolescents scheme to ruin others.”
If this is the flick, it will re-air on USA Wed (today) at 2PM and
Sat at 4PM & 11PM (all times Central).

The movie sounds like Cruel Intentions. The 140 is a Kit, but well done,
and the only reason to watch the movie. It is featured somewhat
prominently, but not enough.

Your are correct. The movie is “Cruel Intentions.” You are also right
about the beautiful 140 OTS not being shown enough. I had no idea it
was a kit. However, IMHO, you are wrong about it being the only reason
to see the movie. Both Reese Witherspoon and Sara Michelle Geller are
good looking enough for me to watch it again.

The reason I think it’s a Kit is that it has weird seats (like mine, but
mine are still Jaguar), and a large chrome thingie on the toneau (metal, not
the cloth cover). It is nearly identical to the red 140 in Money Talks
(Charlie Sheen, Chris ??). The dash is also strange.

I know it’s hard to defend these reasons based on my car, but it just
doesn’t look “real” to me.
Also, Sebastian (don’t know his real name), doesn’t even know what model it
is… he says it’s a “1956 Jaguar Roadster”…, better than Money Talks
though, the one in it is a 1951 XK 140, and it sells at an auction for
$250,000… I guess it at least fits the “rare” part.

It should tell you something that I pay more attention to the cars in movies
than the actors/actresses. I didn’t even know who they were in Cruel
Intentions.

Buffy??!! I had some friends who named their poodle buffy.

… yes I have heard of the show, but I’ve never watched it. About the only
thing I watch is Speedvision, and History Channel.

No wonder the girls find you ignorable. But you are the better man for
it. My 15-year-old watches the History, Discovery, and Speed Channels a lot.
It hasn’t helped him in English, but he’s learned a lot about cars and
history and the natural sciences.
