[xk] Leather care

I just purchased a 99 XK8 and I don’t know if the dash pad is
leather or vinyl. I’m going to treat the seats and other leather
with Connolly’s hide food but I’m unsure about the dash pad. Any
ideas?–

Hi BCuz,
You may want to direct this subject to the XJ8 site. Most of the guys here
on the XK site have wood dashes. Although they probably use the same stuff on
their seats.

Not all of us have wooden dashes on our XKs, 150s don’t and
nor did the early 120s I think. Weren’t wooded dashes
introduced for the Coupe version of the XK120?

I wonder whether we could get the description of the groups
changed to make it easier for new comers to find the
appropriate group on the website.

How about:

XK 1948 to 1961
XK 1996 onwards?

Just on the general forums page.

Only I think we are likely to get more and more people
straying into here when they are really looking for the XK8
group, which is not really such an appropriate name for
their group since Jaguar now refer to the latest model as
‘‘The Jaguar XK’’ and have dropped the moniker XK8, refering
to the models within the range currently as XK60*, XK, XKR &
XKR-S.
