Some info on leather specifically Blue basically there were 3 blues
a very light blue actually referred to by Jaguar as grey VM**** can’t find
the number right at the moment
a medium blue colour referred to by jaguar as light blue VM3244 best
described as a gunmetal colour
dark blue VM3209?
these 2 later colours were used in XK120’s as early as RHD 660012 as what
was refered to as Duo Blue ie dark blue and light (medium) blue VM3244
leather on the seat facings 2 tone. All 3 colours were used right through
to the XK150
MKV"s had light (medium) blue leather VM3244 generally as light (medium)
blue leather piped dark blue so basically all the seats were in light
(medium) blue leather with dark blue cloth piping , colour of carpets and
door panels?
A period note I have notes the follwing
“VM3244 was introduced as a new colour by Jaguar about 2 Dec 1948
and was described as Blue-Grey Luxan Vaumol”

this would tie up with the intro of the MKVSubject: [xk] leather colours Blue
This thread obviously never went anywhere!
I would like to nail down exactly what blues were what on the XK’s I am trimming a Twilight Blue RHD XK120 and in fact the first XK120 painted this colour.
Trim colour is Duo Blue ie Dk Blue and Light Blue or in theory VM3197 or VM3209 and VM3244
Has anyone any more thoughts or info on these colours.
Specifically VM3230 none of my swatch books have this colour in it
Whilst on the subject of trim colours I would like to sort out the colour called pigskin used on the XK120 “XK120 Explored” notes it as VM3240 but shows a light colour my memory is that it really was a Tan colour. A Connolly swatch I have in fact has a piece of leather with no colour code on it just the words
“Pig Grain”
Pigskin as referred to by Connolly is in fact a pattern to the leather surface not a colour - any thoughts
