[xk] Lucas Lucas

Todays Wall St Journal reports that Lucas now known as Lucas Varity PLC
will be moving its headquarters to Buffalo, NY from London. By doing so,
it will become an American Company. Could this be one of those
millenium presages?

Victor A. Rice (thats were Varity comes from) completes a classic reverse
takeover of Lucas that started in '96. He is known for his ruthlessness and
quick dismembement of companies (Perkins, Kelsey, Lucas) to name a few. He
used to be based out of Canada but had to leave as he decided it wasn’t worth
paying back the Canadian gov. for all their business loans. so they moved to
Buffalo. The first thing he did when Lucas and Varity merged was to fire
every Lucas senior exec. and start selling off assets, and making most Lucas
employees redundant. Lucas won a few contracts and the cash from assets sales
keeps the stock holders happy so no one seems to care. Lucas will soon be
only a brand name on European products. It is now offically gone from the USA
except for rotating electrics which is not even owned by LucasVarity but OCA.

So LUCAS bits and signs will now become collectables! (Say Sweetie -would you
like to come over to my house and see my LUCAS starter collection?)

This sounds like the old process of killing the enemy then burning down their
houses and killing off all the children. Seems EVERY aspect of the british
automotive industry is being vanquished! Whats the state of SMITHS and JAGER
(?) electrics?
