Hey JEB:
What manual? “Shad Tree Mechanics” like me and that guy in Texas don’t
need um!!!
I got manuals coming out of my exhaust pipes. It’s reading them I have a
problem with. Bunny has to translate and read to me. OH, blind as well?!
Bonnet on
Rear Wings are on
Compression Test as follows:
PSI
1 131
2 140
3 132
4 140
5 140
6 137
Ran the test several times and the readings were all the same # per cyl.
I will do the ignition thingy. Points and condenser have been in the car
since I bought it 1969
GEE do you think they need replacing?
Plugs are new and proper Champions.
THE BRAKES
I’m almost afraid of them. Got discouraged 3 years ago when I couldn’t
stop them from leaking. Used #4 Castrol as people said NEVER USE SILICON. Have
no peddle. All 6 cylinders were done by White Post as was the master.
Have new Michelin radials, brake linings.
Dropped one of my new windshields this week so I will have to have another
one made.
Thank you for the input
Best regards to you and Janet

Sounds like ignition. Make sure the advance isn’t hung up, and
nothing is arcing out under the cap. Were the points, condenser and
wires replaced? I’m curious how you’re going to replace one
windshield? I thought they had to go in as a pair. I paid a
windshield guy $75, and he had the whole business in, in less than
10 min. Best money I ever spent.

Also, check your plug wires where they go into the dist. cap. Same for the
coil. They have a habit of getting corroded. You should be able to grab
the rotor and turn it against the advance spring to make sure it is free.
