[xk] oil filter casting

As far as I can tell there were three different oil filter castings used on
MK2’s. The early 3.8 engines, from LA1001 to LA7449, used FA2741, which is
a small casting with the filter element pointing UP and toward the front of
the car. This is the same casting that was used on the MK1’s. Later
engines, from LA7450 to LC4264 used FA2744, in which the element points down
and toward the rear. The pressure release valve on this one points up and
toward the front. After engine LC4265 they used FA2114, which has the
pressure release valve pointing straight up. They all used the same FG2306
filter element,

I don’t know where FA2122 was used.

Subject: [xk] oil filter casting

Can anyone identuify this oil filter casting. It came with my MK2, 3.8
engine and I’d like to know if it is stock, or after market. Here is
what’s
cast into the casting, “TECALEMIT, TYPE FA 2122, Element FG 2306”
Nothing about where it was made or a casting number. Any help will be
appreciated. Aloha, Rob

Page 86 in Urs’ book shows two types of Oil Filter elements for the 120,
early and late, and neirher are the numbers you indicate. Maybe for a later
modle 140 or 150.
The two listed in the book are Tec. FA 2045 & FA 2690/101,
